Studio Classes

Registration Information

Tuition is due paid in full at the time of registration. You will receive a 5% discount for fall and spring if you prepay tuition for both fall and spring semesters. In accordance with University policy, delinquent accounts will be referred to a collection agency and a collection fee will be added to the original balance.

Our classes are self supporting and cannot be pro-rated. A discount in tuition for University employees is not available.

Online: Register online and enter your dancer's information. Registration links are found in the class schedule pages. You can access the website 7 days a week/24 hours a day.

In Person: Register at the Virginia Tanner Dance Building Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The studio is located at approximately 190 S. Wasatch Drive.

Placement: Register your preschool child for the age he/she will be on the first day of dance class. Children in school will be placed at their school grade level. Class lists will be posted outside the studios on the first day of class. If your child's name does not appear on the list, please come to the office to confirm that he/she is registered. Faculty are available to discuss your child's progress.

Class Additions/Cancellations: Class additions and changes are made as enrollment demands. You will be notified if there are any changes in the schedule. If fewer than the minimum number enroll, the class will be cancelled, and you will be invited to select an alternative class. If this is not possible, you will receive full credit or a full refund.

Make-up Class Policy: Because our classes are taught sequentially, and most of them are at maximum capacity, we cannot accommodate a dancer for a make-up session.

Scholarships:Limited scholarships are available for children Kindergarten age through high school. Applications are available online or in the studio office. Please see the form link below for application deadlines.

    Lost or Stolen Items: Virginia Tanner Creative Dance Program cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen items. There is a lost-and-found box in the dressing room area; small lost-and-found items are in the studio office.

    Visitor Policy

    Parents are invited to watch their child's first class of the semester. As the semester comes to a close, parents will be invited to participate in their dancer's last class. Please make child-care arrangements for siblings and other children. The parking lot will be paid for by the studio those two weeks only. Please turn off beepers and cell phones before entering class. To maintain a positive teaching environment, classes during the remainder of the semester are closed to visitors.

    Dress

    Dancers should wear leotards with footless tights or unitards to class; boys may wear T-shirts with tights or shorts. Students dance barefoot, except for the ballet class where ballet slippers are required. Ballet students: girls are required to wear black leotards, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Boys may wear T-shirts with tights or shorts. No street shoes are allowed on studio floors.

    Virginia Tanner Creative Dance Performance

    Our annual performance will be held on Saturday, May 15, at Kingsbury Hall. Kindergarten through high school classes will perform. Admission is free. Your child's rehearsal will be Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday the week of the concert. There is no additional costume fee. Order forms for reasonably priced photos (optional) and flowers (optional) will be sent home several weeks before the show along with the rehearsal/performance schedule.

    Withdrawal Policy

    Withdrawals and refund requests must be made by the parents(s) or guardian(s) to the studio office. 100% less a $10 processing fee by the first day of class. After the first day of class refunds will be made on a case by case basis.

    Parking Information

    All university parking is regulated year round, including University breaks as noted below.
    -The area directly in front of the studio is a red no-parking zone and parking there creates a safety hazard for the children. Fire lanes and disabled parking are enforced 24 hours every day of the year. Violators will be ticketed by campus police.
    -Lot #23 on the east and north sides of the studio is enforced Mondays through Friday from 7 am to 6 pm except state/national holidays. A University yearly or monthly permit is required. Parents may purchase a monthly $5.50 permit in the Tanner Dance office Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
    -Meters are available on the north and northwest sides of the building and are monitored Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm except state/national holidays.
    -Please remember to “curb your carbon”; turn your car off after 10 seconds and avoid drop-off and pick-up idling.
