The Tanner Dance Ballet Program creates dancers with strong technical training while maintaining a love of dance. The program is age and skill appropriate and dancers advance according to their skill level and teacher recommendation. The foundations of the most complex ballet steps are taught in the beginning classes and dancers progress sequentially from the basics to the advanced repertoire.
All female students must wear their assigned class leotard, pink or peach tights (convertible tights are best), and pink ballet slippers (full sole is fine for Primary Ballet classes, otherwise please wear split sole). Links to purchase assigned class leotards online can be found with each class below. If the class does not have an assigned leotard, you may wear any color/style of leotard.
Male students must wear a short-sleeved t-shirt, black shorts, and black ballet slippers.

The Primary Ballet Program is where concentrated ballet training at Tanner Dance begins. Dancers learn basic ballet positions, body placement, and work on extending through their limbs. Elements of balance, coordination and specified shapes of ballet provide the beginning framework for these young dancers. Classes also include musical and rhythmical exploration and imagery while working in natural rotation.
Primary Ballet I (VTPB1-17/18): Ages 5-6

Each class includes classical barre work, adagio, petit allegro and grand allegro. As dancers reach higher levels of technical proficiency, musicality and movement clarity, they progress to the next technique level by placement audition or faculty recommendation.
